- What is an escape room?
An escape room is a live interactive adventure where a team of players works together to solve puzzles, uncover secrets, and overcome challenges within a themed environment. Think of it as a blend of a puzzle game, an immersive theatre experience, and a real-world adventure.
- Is this a traditional escape room?
No. While puzzles and teamwork remain an important part of the experience, Jikai combines immersive storytelling, actor interactions, special effects, and unusual procedures that may differ significantly from a traditional escape room.
- What is the SCP Foundation and how does it influence your games?
The SCP Foundation is a fictional organization dedicated to containing anomalous entities, supernatural phenomena, and mysterious objects. Many of our experiences draw inspiration from the SCP universe and other dark fictional worlds. However, Jikai's stories, characters, and adventures are original creations designed specifically for our experiences.
- How do I make a reservation?
You can make a reservation directly through our website by selecting an available date and time. We also accept reservations by phone. To guarantee your preferred session, we recommend booking in advance, especially during weekends and holidays.
- When should I arrive?
We recommend arriving around 10 minutes before your scheduled session time. Parking in Moscavide can sometimes be difficult, so allow extra time if arriving by car.
- Can I visit Jikai without a reservation?
No. Unlike traditional businesses, our doors remain closed between sessions and only open for booked groups. Please avoid visiting our location without a reservation.
- Will someone greet us before the experience starts?
Not necessarily. Depending on the experience, the story may begin before a traditional briefing takes place. Not every session starts with a member of staff greeting players in the usual way. We encourage all visitors to arrive with an open mind and allow events to unfold naturally.
- What should I wear?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes. Some experiences may require moving around, kneeling, or exploring different environments. Avoid clothing that you would be concerned about getting slightly dusty or dirty.
- Can I bring my phone, keys, or personal belongings into the experience?
Mobile phones, smart watches, keys, bags, cameras, flashlights, and other personal belongings are not allowed inside the experience areas. Secure lockers are provided at the start of the session to store them safely. Locker keys are not provided, as they are frequently lost during sessions; instead, lockers are secured electronically and opened by staff at the end of the experience.
- How many people can participate?
Each experience has a minimum and maximum number of participants. Please check the details of the specific experience during the booking process.
- Can children participate?
The minimum age is 12 years old. Participants under 18 years old should be accompanied by a responsible adult.
- How much does a session cost?
The price is fixed at 20€ per person for all standard sessions. Group size limits vary depending on the experience. The exact price for your selected session will always be displayed during the booking process.
- How can I pay for a reservation?
We accept MB Way, credit cards, and debit cards. Depending on the booking, payment on-site may also be available.
- Can I change the number of players after the reservation is made?
Yes. Additional players may be added provided the maximum group size is not exceeded. The additional amount will be paid at the session. Players who do not attend the session are not eligible for refunds.
- Is it possible to play without understanding Portuguese?
Yes. All experiences are available in either Portuguese or English, selected during the booking process.
- Why do most of your experiences only accept small groups?
Our experiences are designed around immersion, teamwork, and participation. Smaller groups allow every player to contribute meaningfully and help maintain the atmosphere and pacing of the experience.
- Do you offer experiences for large groups?
Yes. We offer dedicated experiences designed specifically for larger groups. Please see our Large Group Experiences section for more information.
- Can I book the entire Jikai venue for a private event?
All Jikai bookings are completely private. Your group will never be mixed with another group during an experience. However, we do not currently offer party rooms, event halls, catering, or dedicated spaces for celebrations outside of the escape room experiences themselves.
- Are the games scary?
Some experiences contain darkness, tension, actor interactions, sudden surprises, and horror elements. The intensity varies depending on the experience and selected game mode. We recommend reading the description of each experience before booking to ensure it is suitable for your group.
- Can I leave the experience if I become uncomfortable?
Yes. Players may leave the experience at any time. However, leaving after the experience has begun does not qualify for a refund.
- Can I cancel or change my reservation?
Reservations can be changed or canceled up to 24 hours in advance without additional costs. Cancellations made after this period will not be refunded. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to modify your booking.
